Affron saffron extract is a standardized extract from Crocus sativus, specifically standardized to defined levels of bioactive ingredients such as lepticrotalides.
This raw material is one of the most comprehensively researched saffron extracts worldwide and has been investigated in numerous peer-reviewed studies. In the USA, saffron serves as the basis for an official monograph (e.g., in the context of the United States Pharmacopeia), meaning that quality standards and specifications are clearly defined. Internationally, saffron is traditionally and in some markets also considered in relation to emotional well-being. Within the EU, however, no specific health-related claims are permitted for this, which is why we focus on the quality and standardization of the raw material.

Not all saffron extracts are the same. The content of active phytochemicals can vary greatly depending on origin, processing, and extraction methods.
Standardized extracts like Affron® ensure that each batch has a consistent composition. This is particularly relevant when a raw material has been scientifically studied, as study results can only be transferred to comparable, standardized products.

When we speak of "clinically tested," it means that the specific raw material has been examined in controlled human studies.
It's important to differentiate: the studies refer to the particular branded raw material in a specific formulation and dosage, not automatically to every product containing this raw material.
This primarily means that scientific data on the application of the ingredients used is already available. In the case of Affron saffron extract, there are fourteen published, randomized, double-blind studies that have appeared in renowned, peer-reviewed journals.
